Question 1

Is my quilt top good enough for longarm quilting?

Accepted Answer

Almost certainly yes. If your quilt top is finished — truly done, even with imperfect points or slightly full borders — it is ready for longarm quilting. At Peas In A Pod Quilting, we specifically welcome first-time quilters and work with tops at every skill level.

Question 2

What do I send to the longarmer?

Accepted Answer

Your quilt top, your backing fabric (cut at least 4 inches larger on all sides than your quilt top), and batting if you have it — we provide batting if you don't. We'll walk you through the details in our quilt prep guide before you ship anything.

Question 3

How long does it take to get my quilt back?

Accepted Answer

Most quilts come back within 1–2 weeks of arriving at the studio. That's significantly faster than the 3–6 week wait common at many longarm services.

Question 4

Can I mail my quilt in, or do I have to drop it off?

Accepted Answer

Both options are available. Local drop-off is available in McDonough, Georgia. Mail-in quilting is available from all 50 states — we'll give you complete shipping instructions.

Question 5

How much does longarm quilting cost for a first quilt?

Accepted Answer

Edge-to-edge pantograph quilting starts at 3.0 cents per square inch, with a $50 minimum. Most first quilts come in right at or just above the $50 minimum. A standard lap quilt (60" x 80") comes out around $144. We give you an exact quote before anything starts — no surprises.

Question 6

What is edge-to-edge pantograph quilting?

Accepted Answer

It's a style of longarm quilting where one continuous design (the pantograph) runs in evenly spaced rows from one edge of your quilt to the other. It gives the whole quilt a consistent, finished look and is the most popular choice for new quilters.

Question 7

What if my quilt isn't perfect?

Accepted Answer

That's what we're here for. Slightly wonky points, a border with a little extra fullness, a block that isn't quite square — none of those things disqualify your quilt. The longarm quilts right over small imperfections, and the finished result is almost always more beautiful than you expect.
